AmeriCorps VISTA member positions for our Oil Spill Disaster Outreach Project that serves Plaquemines, St. Bernard, New Orleans East and St. Charles Parish. The VISTA members will help SLLS develop outreach projects in communities directly impacted by the oil spill. Duties will also include coordination of outreach, liaison with other social service agencies, development of community legal education and resource materials, help with recruitment of volunteers and intake related support to SLLS attorneys. SLLS is a civil legal aid program for low income people. Check the national AmeriCorps webpage for more information on the VISTA program. Check www.slls.org for information on SLLS. These VISTA positions are expected to be for a 1 year term.

College education preferred for our VISTA members.

Compensation: $891 per month living stipend, $5350 education stipend (if year completed per federal rules)
