Description of Position
The Executive Director serves as the chief administrative officer of the organization. Duties are subject to the direction of the Board of Directors and the guidance of the Executive Officers. Any and all formal representations of the Chamber by the Executive Director are subject to approval by the Executive Officers. The Executive Director is responsible for initiating, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of Chamber activities.

Responsibilities
1. Administration, Operation, and Management
a. Maintain an accurate and current database of members
b. Answer phone and email inquiries
c. Monitor P.O. Box and incoming mail
d. Maintain member relations documents, such as brochures and applications
e. Provide regular and annual progress reports
f. Maintain Chamber technology and assets, including office space
g. Coordinate Board of Directors meetings, proceedings, and records
h. Ensure that the receipts and debts of the Chamber are handled promptly
i. Monitor the financial affairs of the organization, including budget management
j. Call Executive Officers weekly to ensure regular communication
k. Call committee chairmen monthly or more to ensure regular communication
l. Develop annual Program of Work in conjunction with the Executive Officers
m. Develop annual budget in conjunction with the Executive Officers

2. Public Relations / Marketing
a. Create annual membership directory
b. Maintain and update Chamber web presence
c. Publicize Chamber functions, achievements, and announcements
d. Photograph and document all Chamber events
e. Coordinate with government officials for mutual participation in events and activities
f. Develop relationships with local media and government contacts
g. Maintain regular email communications to Chamber members and interested parties
h. Write, publish, and distribute the quarterly print newsletter after presented and reviewed by Executive Officers for approval
i. Represent the Chamber on community involvement boards as is necessary
j. Serve as an organization spokesperson as is necessary

3. Membership Development
a. Visit potential and existing members weekly and report progress to board monthly in director’s report
b. Provide follow-up surveys and needs assessments following Chamber events
c. Monitor and distribute updated Chamber member certificates

4. Committee Work
a. Serve as scribe and liaison for all committees
b. Monitor committee progress, in conjunction with the Vice Chair, and maintain records of their production and budget
c. Assist in the recruitment and management of volunteers, including Directors and members, to serve on committees and at Chamber functions
d. Coordinate with the appropriate committees for event planning and production services for significant Chamber activities, including presentations, documents, decorations, agendas, awards, gifts, etc.
e. Coordinate Chamber programs, including ribbon-cutting ceremonies, monthly luncheons, and related events as is necessary to make event a success

Minimal Requirements / Performance Standards
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Good organizational and people skills
• Ability to efficiently budget and designate time and energy
• Ability to recognize and adapt to the evolving philosophies and responsibilities put forth by the Board of Directors and Executive Officers
• Substantial word processing and desktop publishing experience necessary, additional experience working with financial software such as Quickbooks or Peachtree , Powerpoint, and web development software preferred

Salary
Approximately $40,000 annually dependent on experience.
