Established French Quarter jewelry store is seeking an enthusiastic inventory/marketing associate for full time work maintaining the store’s computerized inventory system, website and and social media marketing (facebook).

Web and or marketing experience is preferred but not required.

Candidate must be a quick learner who is flexible, outgoing, and comfortable interacting with diverse personalities in an environment where high ticket items are sold and clients are shopping with a wide range of budgets. A pleasant attitude and strong work ethic are a must— as are an understanding/ appreciation of the importance of working in an environment where good customer service is a must.

Computer literacy required (word processing, email and familiarity with social networking). This position will require learning and running a point of sales system, accurate and timely processing of incoming and outgoing inventory, and running reports so that items may be restocked in a timely manner. Additionally this position is responsible for updating and maintaining the store’s website and social media postings on facebook.

Weekend work required (primarily Fridays and/or Saturdays) with occasional Sundays during peak traffic times and during the holiday season.

References and background check required.
Background check will be conducted before employment may begin.

Duties include:

Participating daily in store opening/set up (jewelry display, restocking bulk items and tidying up) and closing (securing the jewelry and tidying up).

Assisting the staff by answering the phone in a professional manner and taking detailed messages when necessary.

Dealing with the public in a professional manner—this includes greeting customers in a pleasant manner and being comfortable talking to customers (new and old), educating customers about our offerings and following up with customers by phone, email and written correspondence.

Having a familiarity with our jewelry offerings and being prepared to articulate basic details about store inventory, especially the items posted on the store’s website.

Assisting staff during busy times by providing professional looking gift wrap services for store merchandise as it is sold.

Learning and becoming proficient in maintaining the store’s computerized point of sale system to process sales, jewelry repairs and custom orders and to track customer information.

Processing phone and web sales and preparing them for shipping.
