The hyperlocal online daily digital news and culture publication NOLA Defender (www.noladefender.com) is seeking a photo editor to add to our stable of scribes. This position has potential for creative input and freedom, as the selected member will write a comprehensive document outlining the process that photography is incorporated into and executed by the website. The photo editor will example the present photo situation, and:

- Write comprehensive brief regarding current status (how
many images need replacing, man hours, trends in our coverage and
subsequent photo needs, etceteras,) departmental needs/wants, and
proposed timeline.

- Work with Editor to recruit and Manage Photo Staff

- Build Stock Art Collection

- Make recommendations regarding contracting a stock photo service

- Manage Flickr

- Assign photos to articles

- Generate a simple system whereby bloggers can access said stock images

- Replace old images with new images (with no potential copyright issues)

- Develop & implement Photo Essays and new formats of presenting
multimedia stories.

Compensation will be limited to weekly free drinks to accompany Monday night editorial meetings, accreditation, and free passes/perks for events we cover. Exposure and experience remain our chosen seasonings to sweeten the pot. If interested, please email info@noladefender.com.
