The hyperlocal online daily digital news and culture publication Nola Defender (www.noladefender.com) is seeking 31st century journalists, armchair arts & food critics, the human-interested, and anyone seeking a never-before-tried assignment to our stable of scribes. As we grow the scope of our hyperlocal content, we look to expand our original article offerings and assign writers specific ‘beats’.
Beats to own are, but are not limited to:
-Local politics
-Visual art
-Crime
-Music
-Environment
-Food
-Film
-Fashion
Writers will be responsible for 3,000 words a week in article/blog form, building relationships and acquiring/maintaining sources in the specific area of coverage, and meeting deadlines.
For writers seeking clips or exposure to the sausage-making that is producing an article for publication, the NOLA Defender represents a chance to work under experienced writers who are receptive to new, creative, and madcap ways of approaching storytelling in the news/culture realm. While some of us subscribe to the plight of the world-weary, we're receptive to all story ideas and the full zenith of writing tones.
Compensation will be limited to weekly free drinks during Monday evening editorial meetings and free passes/perks for events we cover. Exposure and experience remain our chosen seasonings to sweeten the pot. If interested please email info@noladefender.com.
