Urban Planner

We are looking for a creative and talented Urban Planner to work in the Planning and Real Estate department of our New Orleans office. Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning or related field and at least 3 years of planning experience along with a Master’s degree in either Urban Planning or Public Policy, with a focus on housing and community development preferred.

The position requires the following:
• Extensive research capabilities using quantitative and qualitative methods
• Analysis of large datasets, and the ability to produce meaningful coherent reports for public and private sector clients
• A thorough understanding of data produced by the U.S. Census and Bureau of Labor Statistics as well as a background in statistics is mandatory
• Requires intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel, Access and PowerPoint and basic knowledge of GIS
• Requires extensive writing and occasional public speaking engagement with diverse audiences

GCR’s Planning and Real Estate department currently works with the Louisiana Office of Community Development, the Louisiana Housing Finance Agency, the City of New Orleans, Jefferson Parish, Greater New Orleans Biosciences Economic Development District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and a number of other public sector clients focusing on housing issues, economic development opportunities, transportation planning, comprehensive planning and neighborhood revitalization. The position will involve a wide range of projects but is expected to focus on the analysis of housing issues and community redevelopment.
