Community Works of Louisiana is seeking a Programming and Administrative Intern for the summer of 2011. The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a wide range of administrative tasks and will be capable of working both independently and as a member of the team. The ability to effectively interact with staff, teaching-artists, and the organization’s board of directors, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient is necessary for success in this position. Bachelor's degree (or working toward), a good sense of humor, and an interest in non-profits and arts education is required.
Responsibilities:
• Helping to manage and organize multiple after-school programs
• Coordinating marketing efforts for the organization
• Maintaining and updating the organization’s social media outlets
• Data entry and maintenance of programmatic web-based databases
• Recruiting prospective teaching-artists and facilitating interviews
• Participating in grant and proposal writing
• Assisting with payroll and maintenance of QuickBooks accounting system
• Brainstorming on new initiatives that will push the organization forward
• General administrative tasks
Qualifications:
• BA or MA (or working toward) in arts education, education, business, marketing or related field
• Proven experience in program management
• Flexibility and adaptability
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multitask
• Organization skills
• Computer savvy
• Reliable transportation
Salary:
• Salary will be between $8 – $10/hr
• Intern will be paid as an independent contractor
