Gameloft, a worldwide publisher and developer of video games for mobile phones, is seeking 2D Concept Artists to join their existing talent pool. Qualified candidates will link up with imaginative design teams to create hot new game titles, fulfilling a wide range of genres from hardcore action to casual simulation. Previous hit games include – Oregon Trail, Hero of Sparta I & II, NOVA, Avatar, Dungeon Hunter, NFL 2010, Real Soccer 2010, New York Nights, Assassin's Creed, Terminator Salvation, Asphalt 5, Let's Golf and Gangstar 1&2. As a key member of the development team, you'll create game art within challenging parameters while working with other well known pixel artists from the initial concept art to animation to the final delivery.
Must-haves/ know-how:
Sprite/Pixel art experience for a product that has already been released onto the market (low-resolution computer graphics: 2D video games, sprites, icons, etc.) but self-taught candidates will also be considered
Proficient in Photoshop, Painter and/or other drawing software
Strong understanding of the principles of animation and the use of color
A solid background in academic drawing, sketching and/or illustration
A solid background in creating characters for video games or animated cartoon
Think creatively, work well independently and as a team player
Strong background in composition and graphic design
You'll earn brownie points if you have:
Experience in creating mockups professionally or as a hobby
Knowledge about optimization of computer art
Previous experience creating sprite/pixel art for GB, GBA or mobile games
Previous experience in creating characters for video games
A love for video games, inside & out
