IN Exchange is seeking a highly motivated, socially conscious, results-oriented Director to lead the organization. The Director manages the back- and front-end responsibilities of the business, which include, but are not limited to: Store sales; Student workers; Merchandise displays; On-campus and online marketing strategies; Administrative paperwork (including sales tax forms); Cash flow accounting with Quickbooks and Excel; Fundraising, as needed.

The Director’s time commitment will depend on his or her level of skill and experience, and will vary during different seasons of the year. The Director may choose to close the store in July. Two work-study employees, offered through the Levy-Rosenblum Institute for Entrepreneurship, assist in the store for up to 20 hours every week.

Qualifications: – Bachelor's degree (major or minor) in the fields of business or marketing or, in lieu of this, 2-3 years of relevant experience – At least 6 months of retail experience – 3.4 cumulative GPA – Photoshop skills preferred – Socially conscious – Excellent written and oral communication skills – Marketing and promotions experience – Project management experience – Entrepreneurial drive/self-starter – Creative thinker – Proficiency in Quickbooks – Website management experience a plus

Expectations
It is extremely important that the individual selected for the position be excellent at communicating to a college audience, maintaining a broad network on the campus of Tulane University, and organizing events, such as the IN Exchange Ethical Fashion Show. This person must also have a deep commitment to fair trade and be willing to adhere very strictly to fair-trade and IN Exchange ethical standards when selecting merchandise. The Director of IN Exchange is required to report to Lina Stern, the Director of the Levy-Rosenblum Institute, on a weekly basis, and to the Board of Directors of IN Exchange on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.

Becoming the leader of a startup business is a significant role with many responsibilities. Often times, there are few clear answers to problems and the Director must make decisions based on insight or minimal information, and push forward. We are looking for a new Director who is tough, hard-working, highly organized, and able to persevere. We are seeking someone who is skilled in the areas of marketing, management, and budgeting. Hard skills, such as accounting and graphic design, are a plus.
