Minimum Requirements: BA in marketing or communications preferred but not required. Experience with website maintenance and communications required, experience with graphic design preferred. Nonprofit fundraising experience will be considered a major asset.
Performance Standards: Detail Oriented, well-organized, creative, good interpersonal skills.

General Responsibilities: Maintain and build upon all facets of external communications for the organization and assist in implementation of a diverse fundraising plan that will promote sustainability under direction from the Assistant Director. It is expected that this position will require 40 hours a week of work, and that time will be split 50/50 between communications and development activities.

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Manage technical distribution of all GNOFHAC external communications
a. Maintain and regularly update GNOFHAC website
b. Maintain GNOFHAC email database and manage distribution of all email communications including press releases, action alerts and event announcements
c. Manage online registration for GNOFHAC events including but not limited to GNOFHAC’s annual “Fit For a King” fair housing summit and Fair Housing Month events
d. Develop and maintain GNOFHAC blog that includes staff updates, nationwide fair housing news, and advocacy campaigns
e. Manage and expand GNOFHAC’s presence on social networking sites including but not limited to Twitter and Facebook; implement regular updates on social networking sites, in partnership with Education and Outreach Specialist.
f. Provide technical assistance to GNOFHAC programmatic staff that will allow them to update GNOFHAC blog and social media accounts
g. Implement and maintain online advocacy campaigns that target public officials regarding issues of relevance to GNOFHAC
h. Monitor technological innovations that will enhance the efficacy of GNOFHAC communications and advise executive staff about implementation of relevant tools

2. Design and maintain GNOFHAC outreach materials including press releases, event announcements, advertising campaigns, and educational materials
a. Promote GNOFHAC’s brand through use of GNOFHAC’s logo, font, color scheme and general “look”
b. Brainstorm and implement multiple creative solutions to design challenges
c. Respond to feedback in a professional and timely manner

3. Assist with implementation of a robust fundraising plan that will increase the sustainability of GNOFHAC
a. Assist in researching grant opportunities
b. Assist in drafting grant proposals
c. Maintain calendar of due dates of grant progress and final reports and work in partnership with Assistant Director to complete and submit reports
d. Establish and maintain GNOFHAC donor database
e. Conduct research on donor prospects
f. Complete major donor asks in accordance with fundraising plan
g. Plan and produce GNOFHAC fundraising events
h. Assist in the design and distribution of fundraising materials and in the implementation of fundraising drives
i. Design materials to promote GNOFHAC’s earned income strategies in partnership with programmatic staff

4. Comply with all policies of GNOFHAC
a. Maintain communications infrastructure in accordance with GNOFHAC’s outreach review policy
b. Safeguard all assets of GNOFHAC as well as the security and confidentiality of its clients
c. Represent GNOFHAC consistently and effectively in a professional and exceptional manner
d. Work as a team member and support the mission and goals of GNOFHAC

*Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director.

Characteristics and skills needed for the position:
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to multitask and timely completion of project tasks under pressure. Flexibility. Team player. Proficiency with web and graphic design; experience with web and graphic design for social justice causes preferred. Competency in use of office software including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Documents and Adobe Design Suite; experience with the Wordpress content management system preferred. Competency in use of basic office technology, including phones, copy machines, fax, emailing, postage meter, printers and other. Demonstrated commitment to fair housing and/or civil rights.
