New Beginnings Schools Foundation is currently looking for a Director of Development to oversee the grant writing and fundraising for each of its four charter schools.
About New Beginnings Schools Foundation
The Capital One – University of New Orleans Charter Network was formed as a joint partnership between the New Beginnings Schools Foundation Capital One Bank and the University of New Orleans. Since its inception, the Capital One University of New Orleans Charter Network has provided New Orleans' students with access to a quality pre-K through college education. The mission of the organization is to serve as a catalyst for city-wide and regional economic development. New Beginnings Schools Foundation, Capital One and the University of New Orleans have created a system of K-12 open enrollment public schools that have incorporated the best practices of higher education and private industry to ensure that New Orleans’ students are prepared for future academic, personal and professional success. New Beginnings Schools Foundation currently serves more than1,600 students at Pierre A. Capdau, Medard Nelson, Gentilly Terrace and Thurgood Marshall Early College High School.
Responsibilities:
• Plans and coordinates a variety of fundraising programs, events, and other activities designed to increase success in private fundraising for New Beginnings Schools Foundation.
• Plans and coordinates activities to raise funds and increase visibility among internal and external constituencies, including alumni, corporate and foundation contacts, the business community, and others.
• Conducts prospect research and develops prospecting strategies, matching prospects to School programs.
• Writes grant applications, case statements, major gift proposals, technical reports, press releases, communication materials, and other documents as necessary.
• Collaborates with public grants and compliance manager in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising goals and objectives.
• Implements Fundraising Policy and approves all New Beginnings Schools Foundation staff-initiated fundraising activities.
• Maintains database files and records, including those used to track contributions, communications with donors, and maintain accurate mailing lists.
• Represents the School at some business and community meetings; conducts tours and/or gives presentations.
Qualifications:
• BA/BS required, Masters preferred
• 3-5 years of development experience
• Program development and implementation skills preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with attention to detail
• Database management skills required
• Ability to gather data, analyze information and prepare reports
• Strong organizational skills
• Adherence to confidentiality requirements
