FoMA is seeking a skilled, motivated intern for 20 hours a week to develop and produce a short documentary film project about Armstrong Park, Congo Square and the Municipal Auditorium as we embark on a community strategic planning process with the Treme neighborhood in preparation for the redevelopment of the Municipal Auditorium in Armstrong Park. We would like the project to be a combination of oral history project, i.e. interviews with community members about their experiences and memories with the park, including its infamous creation through the demolition of a neighborhood, as well as documentation of community planning meetings and the plan-making process.

This position is currently unpaid, but we will pay for production costs where necessary. We are seeking funding for this project but will likely need to show funders a 5-minute promo video in order to secure a grant.

Position to start in June and take approximately 3 months. Office located in Treme near Esplenade and Rampart, flexible hours and ability to work from home and coffee shops.

You must be technically proficient with video and editing equipment and software and be self-motivated and primarily self-directed. Deliverable should be approximately a 20-40 minute video

The following software/computer skills will be also be helpful, but not required: Web/blog/social media fluency highly desirable.

Friends of the Municipal Auditorium is a community organization dedicated to the revitalization of the Municipal Auditorium in Armstrong Park. We believe that through visionary yet practical development planning, community engagement and cooperative partnership, the Auditorium can once again be a beacon of creativity and source of prosperity for New Orleans.

FoMA has convened People United for Armstrong Park have been creating community consensus about the future of Armstrong Park and its assets, including the Municipal Auditorium and Congo Square. We are undertaking the strategic planning and community engagement processes necessary to move the Municipal Auditorium, Congo Square and Park redevelopment projects forward.

FoMA and PUfAP are developing a formal community vision plan for the Park, Congo Square, and Auditorium that draws from the input of local residents and institutions. This plan is intended to serve as the guiding blueprint for the redevelopment of the Park and its assets.
