Ochsner is currently seeking a Revenue Cycle Rep 3 in ED Registration. Nights and evening shifts available.
Duties: Greets patients and guests and initiates process of all ER, inpatient admissions, and transfer paperwork. Obtains and verifies accurate identification and demographical data for the patient’s permanent medical record and to assist in accurate reimbursement. Appropriately recognizes and maintains the confidentiality of all patient information.
Responsible for point-of-service patient facing interactions relating to completing the patient registration and admission process. Is responsible for improving patient satisfaction through consistently representing Ochsner Health System professionally and according to the job duties detailed below. Cross-training to support multiple functions across all patient and payer types.
Schedule is considered a flex schedule that will require evening and weekend hours and/or emergency coverage, depending on business needs. As a 24 hour service area, employee will be expected to work various day, evening and weekend hours. Work involves interactions with doctors, nurses and other hospital personnel. The position requires strict patient confidentiality.
Demonstrates actions consistent with Ochsner’s Expectations as duties are performed on a daily basis.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree or higher and 2 – 3 years of direct experience in hospital, clinic, business services/revenue cycle, front ling registration, financial counseling, and/or direct experience in a healthcare environment. High school diploma or equivalent along with 3 – 4 years of direct experience in hospital, clinic, business services/revenue cycle, front line registration, financial counseling, and/or direct experience in a healthcare environment may be substitued for higher educational requirements.
CHAM, CHAA, Certification as a Medical Assistant (or other medical specialty-based certification) preferred but not required.
Employee will be required to complete a Medical Terminology course within one year of hire.
Customer service skills that are focused on a demonstrated ability to gather and disseminate information through effective communication with a diverse range of people, either in person or over the phone. Ability to interact with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds, of all ages and at all levels within and outside the organization in a positive and effective manner. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other departments and functional areas. Must exhibit sound judgment in handling/escalating difficult situations and good organizational, time management, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to confidentially handle sensitive information. Excellent decision making skill; good analytical skills with a strong attention to detail are necessary.
Technical knowledge of healthcare operations. Significant knowledge of internal/external registration and billing systems. Strong knowledge of Federal, State and Local billing regulations. Working knowledge of Advanced Directives and Patient Bill of Rights. Knowledge of basic medical terminology is necessary.
Proficient in the use of personal computers and associated software applications (Excel, Word, email functions).
Ability to perform job duties in self-directed work environments. Ability to learn new systems associated with the responsibilities of various functional areas.
Must possess good orgnizational, time management, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills in a positive manner. One should be able to handle multiple tasks at once, prioritze work and manage interruptions ealily. Ability to establish and meet deadlines. Self directed and able to accomplish responsibilities with little supervision. Good analytical skills with a strong attention to detail. Ability to demonstrate strong financial management skills, including communication and collecting remaining patient liability due.
Must maintain a professional appearance at all times. Must be open to learning while working as a team player to carry out daily duties in a timely and accurate manner. Must display excellent prioritization and organization skills and handle several tasks and interruptions in a positive manner. Must contribute to an environment of teamwork, professionalism, customer satisfaction, high performance, and mutual respect of others.
