LPHI’s Division of Information Services Division (IS) designs, plans & enables Information Services and supporting platforms to positively impact population level health outcomes in Louisiana. IS provides innovative solutions, guidance and TA to health policy-makers, healthcare organizations, and Louisiana communities based in current and emerging Public Health/Bio-Medical Informatics best practices. Serving both LPHI and partner healthcare organizations, IS efforts broadly focus on the following congruent areas – Health Information Technology, Infrastructure, Information Systems Development, and Data & Health Geography
Position Summary
The IT specialist, reports to the Associate Director for Infrastructure, Division of Information Services and works under the strategic guidance of the LPHI CIO. The It specialist for the Division of Information Services collaborates with all Division staff and across LPHI as appropriate and is responsible for maintaining LPHI’s core IT Services, including LPHI helpdesks, LPHI procurement and project support to the Systems Administrator.
Note: Employees in this role may have to work weekends in either mandatory citywide evacuations or large system upgrades.
Core Responsibilities:
• Manage LPHI helpdesks /Technical Support
? Health IT (External)
? LPHI (Internal/External)
? Setup client software, grants and maintains access rights, backup data, and provides support for Enterprise Systems.
? Senior Users support.
• IT Asset Management & Procurement
? Manage the upkeep of LPHI Asset Inventory of all LPHI Software/Hardware
? Maintain inventory of internal licenses and track compliance.
? Aid in the preparation of the LPHI IT budget and monitor spending appropriately
? Evaluate new hardware and software to meet company requirements.
? Manage procurement of any new hardware/software for LPHI.
• Core Systems
? Responsible for maintaining and keeping the Company’s telecommunication systems running with minimal downtime (phones, webcast services, facsimile)
? Support of legacy desktops, laptops and servers
? Responsible for maintenance and backup of the Company’s internal development servers.
• Assist service and support and product development with IT related questions pertaining to outside networks
• Liaison with IT staff for issues relating to the network, including LANs, internet connections and remote users.
Client Management (Internal & External)
• Manages day-to-day client interaction
• Sets and manages client expectations.
• Collaboratively develops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster client ties.
• Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.
• Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
• Builds a knowledge base of each client's business, organization and objectives.
Essential Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Technology, Technology & Project Management, Computer Sciences, Engineering or a related discipline. Master’s degree or coursework strongly preferred.
• The IT Specialist should be experienced in support Microsoft products. Must have a strong familiarity with PC hardware, software and peripherals in a Windows environment.
o Experience with Unix and SQL servers also a plus.
• Experience in Cisco products PIX firewall, 2500, 2600 series routers and Cisco VPN software a plus.
• Individual must be a self-starter who can interact well with customers both internally and externally at LPHI.
• Must possess strong analytical interpersonal, and communication skills and have the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Ability to learn new and complex subject areas quickly
• Ability to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve complex problems
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication, presentation and analytical skills
Desirable Criteria:
• Experience of working in clinical environments
• Experience supporting of Clinical HIT products. Including EMRs.
