Cox Communications is looking for a results-oriented Retail Market Manager to be accountable for the overall performance of all Cox retail stores within a designated geographic market. The Retail Market Manager oversees the implementation of plans across locations to achieve sales, operational, and organizational goals. The Retail Market Manager accomplishes this by supporting store management personnel and fostering local market development. Reporting to the Vice-President or Director of Retail Sales, the Retail Market Manager drives overall market performance while keeping a keen focus on employee and customer satisfaction.
As part of this role, the Retail Market Manager must be able to assess each location's overall performance to identify areas of improvement and respond quickly. This includes ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as defining, communicating, and deploying innovative strategies for growth in their market. Cox Communications is looking for a strategic individual with a strong working knowledge of backend operations, shrink management, visual merchandising, product launch, and various marketing approaches. These skills must be leveraged to drive profitability by implementing action plans which directly impact their market's bottom line.
The Retail Market Manager is also responsible for building and coaching a team of Store Managers who will run the day-to-day details in store locations. This includes taking an active role in advising the Store Managers in their efforts to recruit, hire, retain and develop a diverse and talented team and aiding in resolving escalated issues and concerns as appropriate. In addition, it is the responsibility of the Retail Market Manager to ensure that the skills of Store Managers and Sales Associates are being addressed through proper training and development activities. Strong delegation, coaching, and interpersonal skills are required in order to achieve success in this fast paced organization looking to grow revenues quickly.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Strategic Business Management
Accountable for overall financial and operational performance of approximately 8-10 Cox retail locations
Actively works to ensure stores in area are compliant with corporate guidelines surrounding visual merchandising and in-store displays
Manages accuracy of daily service revenue and bank deposits
Monitors shrink across district and takes strategic action on exceptions
Sets and monitors store labor and operating expenditure, includes conducting analysis and taking action on exceptions
- Store Manager Support
Provides expert guidance to assist Store Managers in achieving operational goals including financial and customer satisfaction targets
Actively support Store Managers with staff selection, development, goal setting, coaching, and disciplinary actions
Assist Store Managers with identification, escalation, and resolution of issues raised to Cox Corporate Store Leadership Team
Strategically and effectively resolves escalated customer concerns as appropriate
- Local Market Development
Collaborates with Corporate Store Operations Manager and Customer Experience Manager to create local sales and marketing strategies
Partners with Market and System Leadership to ensure integration and alignment of all initiatives with the retail channel
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience
7 years of retail experience minimum
Previous supervisory experience managing the overall performance of multiple retail locations
Demonstrated prior success in managing and meeting sales and/or operating targets
Experience managing profit & loss/budgets
Strong interpersonal skills with passion and talent for motivating successful sales teams
Strong analytical and problem solving skills in addition to excellent verbal and written communications skills
Ability to travel 50% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters of Business Administration (MBA) preferred
Wireless retail experience and working knowledge of the cable /communication industry, systems, and networks, as well as, current and emerging technologies and standards a plus
