Use your Spanish and help Latino families build wealth for their futures by reaching homeownership. The Puentes housing program intern will gain skills in program administration by assisting the Puentes Housing Coordinator, will build research and presentation skills by creating resources for participants, and will practice Spanish language skills.
General Responsibilities
• Have working knowledge of total program operations, goals, and objectives as well as organizational philosophy and mission
• Research and prepare curriculum for workshop series, adapting to group’s special situation and resources
• Review all materials for classes to ensure that they are up to date and of good quality
• Work on the agency's housing brochure and flyers
• Prepare agendas, handouts, visual aids, and working materials for post-purchase education classes
• Secure and orient guest speaker and trainers
• Schedule field trips to homes as appropriate
• Keep materials interesting and current
• Utilize adult education principles and participatory training techniques in workshops
• Perform other duties as may be requested from time to time by the housing manager
Tracking and Reporting
• Develop regular reporting systems
• Track clients using automated system
• Maintain client and program files
• Ensure that program reports are generated in a timely manner for in-house and external requirements
• Assist with customer intake process and tracking
This internship is six hours per week minimum and is for college credit only (internship is otherwise unpaid). The intern will work both independently and at the housing coordinator's office. Attendance at evening homebuyer classes is also necessary.
