The Lens, a non-profit news website, is hiring contributing reporters to cover Charter School Board meetings in New Orleans.

We will pay $50 per meeting covered, whether the meeting runs one hour or over four.

What you do: Commit to attend specific meetings. Write down notes and quotes. Tell us what's going on. We'll give you a form to follow, covering the essentials, but give you room to write. After the meeting, email us the form and be available by phone to answer questions.

What we do: No later than the day after the meeting, we take that form and publish a short recap of the meeting, with your byline.

Please reply with one-­page resume and one-­page cover letter. We'll let you know one way or another.

Deadline: We will start our coverage with the board meetings after Labor Day. Please apply by Monday, Aug. 22.
