Description:

• Director of Environmental Health is responsible for statewide advocacy work for the American Lung Association’s mission to save lives by preventing lung disease and promoting lung health. Responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with health partner groups, local and state coalitions, national office and national partners. Create, maintain, and expand a clean air coalition for the New Orleans, LA. When submitting your resume, please provide your salary requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Environmental Health:

o Create, maintain and expand a clean air coalition for New Orleans, LA .
o Recruit members from traditional and non-traditional partners, state agencies, key individuals and corporations to build an engaged active coalition. Work with coalition members to create a plan to raise awareness and implement activities within that plan working toward a sustainable impact on healthy outdoor air in New Orleans.
o Work with coalition members, volunteers and staff to raise awareness for clean/healthy outdoor air quality. Monitor policies that work toward a sustainable impact on healthy outdoor air in New Orleans.

• Other:

o Staffs key ALAPGR Lung Health Committee in New Orleans as appropriate and participate on other volunteer leadership committees as requested by the Vice President of Public Policy
o Accurately and effectively represents the ALA and its mission
o Develops and implements comprehensive management tools including ALA’s Performance Based Management System (PBMS) that provide the feedback and data necessary for advocacy decisions to be made. Defines metrics and outcome measurements that will quantify performance against goals and institutionalizes a system for obtaining and reporting those metrics and measurements
o Other duties as assigned by Senior Director of Environmental Health and/or Vice President of Public Policy

Requirements:

o Bachelor's degree in related field.
o Ability to analyze and integrate information from relevant sources and make appropriate decisions.
o Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and
o The demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups and in a team.
o Handles self in a professional manner at all times and takes responsibility for delivering on personal and organizational commitments.
o Solid project management skills and ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities in a positive and focused manner.
o Proficient knowledge in Microsoft office and other software applications, Internet based applications and computer equipment.
o Ability to travel throughout the ALAPGR region as needed.
o Must be a non-smoker.
