The mission of New Orleans Outreach is to improve the quality of public education at our partner schools. We do this by linking volunteers and community resources through programs that respond to the needs of each school. New Orleans Outreach gives public school students access to meaningful experiences that increase academic success, develop skills, and inspire them to participate fully in community life. Outreach recruits, trains, and places teachers, artists and volunteers in the classroom during the school day, after school, and in the summer.
The program seeks to broaden the experiences and knowledge of the student and to assist in the acquisition of academic material. Another goal of the afterschool program is to expose students to career possibilities and build skills that encourage them to pursue new disciplines in the future.
New Orleans Outreach is currently seeking new talent for its enrichment team. We are accepting resumes for paid positions in the following areas:
• Majorettes
• Cheerleading/Step
• Martial Arts
• Visual Arts
• Chorus
• Chess
• Music
• Dance and Movement
• Drama and Theatre
• Sports
• Yoga
We are also accepting resumes for areas outside of those listed above.
Duties: Create a stimulating classroom environment that is organized, well-managed and enriching. Help students to create an end product or portfolio that can be showcased at the end of the course.
Requirements: Submit course outline and weekly plan. Attend 4 – 6 hour New Orleans Outreach afterschool instructor training, and brief (15 minute) staff meetings 2 – 3 times per semester. Agree to, and clear criminal background check, according to the Louisiana Child Protection Act and the Louisiana Department of Education.
Schedule: Most of our programs take place after school between the hours of 3:00 and 6:00PM and last approximately an hour and a half.
Compensation: hourly, based on experience
