NOBA seeks an innovative Communications Manager to create, implement, and measure the success of a comprehensive communications, promotions/marketing, and public relations program that will maximize earned and contributed revenue, enhance the organization’s image and position, and facilitate internal and external communications.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of progressively responsible communications experience.
• A dynamic, creative thinker with a strong belief in, passion for, and commitment to the mission of NOBA; who by example with integrity sets and meets high standards of expectation and excellence introspectively and with others
• Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work independently, under pressure in a results-driven, deadline-oriented, team environment with a small staff, and handle multiple projects simultaneously without losing sight of the organizational goals.
• Superior written and oral communications skills, including the capacity to communicate complex ideas compellingly to a variety of audiences through multiple mediums; strong grammar and editing skills required.
• Friendly and personable attitude who takes delight in representing NOBA and building relationships with external audiences.
• Willingness to work on the weekends and evenings as required
• Experience with non-profits, PR firms, or cause-related marketing preferred.
• Knowledge of standard office software and desktop publishing software

Responsibilities:
Counted among the responsibilities of the Communications Manager will be: With the Marketing Manager, develop and implement a comprehensive communications/marketing/promotions plan that includes public relations, social media, promotion, print, online and new media, advertising, and partnerships for all organizational programming that address the needs of each prospective performance, event, or program; • ensure consistent and compelling articulation of NOBA’s desired image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external; • direct media relations and serve as primary contact person. Write news releases, maintain direct contact with press and media, pitch story ideas about NOBA and each of its programs, organize news conferences and media interviews; • develop and manage e-communications and social media/networking tools; • manage web site, materials design and lay out, serve as chief editor and content developer, and ensure that website remains current. Develop and implement strategies to drive (increase) traffic to the website. Analyze site usage statistics to maximize usability and impact; • act as central liaison for story/information collection by regularly soliciting and generating content that demonstrates the value of NOBA’s work in the community and translating the content into effective communications through multiple mediums; • write and/or edit copy for organizational publications, i.e. season program book, and collateral materials; • working with marketing, lead the development and implementation of creative promotions and efforts to increase earned income for performances and enhance the image of the organization; • initiate, create, and manage cross-promotional partnerships; • organize and implement all photo and video documentation of events; • work with Box Office Manager in strengthening relationships and communicating effectively with potential, new, and existing ticket buyers; • develop, coordinate, and oversee technical assistance and resource materials to assist the communications and positioning of the needs and programs of the development and education departments.
