Organizational Overview
St. Bernard Project (SBP) is a non-profit organization that creates housing opportunities so that Hurricane Katrina survivors can return to their homes and communities. St Bernard Project seeks individuals from all backgrounds and life experiences who have what it takes to develop innovative solutions that bring families back home in a community still struggling to recover years after Hurricane Katrina hit. While there is no “ideal” St Bernard Project team member, we believe the following traits are common amongst our members – problem solving, strong leadership, drive, flexibility, and positivity.

AmeriCorps members serve in virtually all facets of SBP’s operations. We currently have the following openings within our Fall 2011 AmeriCorps class:

-Site Supervisor
The Site Supervisor is responsible for providing on the ground support at a client’s home, known as a project site, for all aspects of a family's rebuilding project including managing/requesting tools and materials, ensuring progress and high quality of construction work, maintaining a safe and organized work site, as well as interacting with the homeowners and volunteers.

-Assistant Electrician

-Assistant Plumber

-Client Services Coordinator
Client Service Coordinators are the main point of contact for individuals and families applying to have their homes rebuilt by St. Bernard Project. These team members walk applicants through theapplication and rebuilding process, determine eligibility for government grants that the organization has been awarded and serve as a listening ear for those working through the process of recovery.

-Grassroots Coordinator
Grassroots Coordinators develop relationships with the diverse array of volunteers and community stakeholders interacting with SBP daily. They handle all logistics of engaging an individual or group in SBP’s mission and create opportunities for them to become advocates for SBP both in the short and long term. Grassroots Coordinators may specialize in specific area based upon their skill sets.
