Leading Educators aims to develop the capacity of teacher-leaders in order to maximize student and faculty success through three primary objectives:

• Directly improve high-need schools by increasing the skillfulness of teacher-leaders
• Retain highly effective teachers in high-needs schools by articulating a career pathway from teaching to teacher leadership
• Create national networks aligned around investment in teacher leadership in order to close the achievement gap

In January of 2008, Leading Educators launched a pilot program in New Orleans as a partnership between FirstLine Schools and New Leaders for New Schools. To date Leading Educators has trained 47 teacher-leaders from 29 schools across the city. Building upon the New Orleans pilot and Teaching Leaders (UK), Leading Educators is now an independent 501c3 organization assembling an ambitious team to expand the program nationally. In partnership with Absolute Return for Kids, Teaching Leaders, New Leaders for New Schools, NewSchools Venture Fund and FirstLine Schools, our expansion model aims to serve 13 regions by 2016.

The Administrative Assistant/Office Manager will provide administrative support to the Leading Educator’s National Executive Team as well as manage the day-to-day office environment. The Administrative Assistant will play an important role in supporting the overall operations of a growing non-profit organization. The work is fast-paced and entrepreneurial.

Reporting directly to the Chief Program Officer, the Administrative Assistant will assume the following responsibilities:

Administrative Support to the Executive Team
• Assists in coordination of company-wide meetings and on-site and off-site meetings
• Responsible for scheduling appointments, conference calls and videoconferences
• Prepare and distribute meeting materials, presentations, and agendas
• Maintain office files and contact information
• Maintains master staff calendar
• Coordinates executive team travel and reimbursements
• Assist in the preparation and planning of materials for meetings and special events
• Performs routine administrative duties as needed

Office Management
• Responsible for all front office receptionist duties; greets and escorts visitors
• Oversees day-to-day office-related responsibilities including mail distribution , purchasing supplies, maintaining office equipment, and space planning activities
• Manages office facilities, including general maintenance and cleanliness
• Maintains relationships with office-related vendors, landlord and internal departments
• Serves as a liaison to technical support on behalf of the executive team

Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable
• Submits invoices for approval and payment; distributes payments to appropriate parties
• Distributes expense payments to LE staff and external vendors
• Serves as a liaison between staff, vendors, and outsourced accounting firm to resolve payment/billing issues

Qualifications:

• College degree
• Commitment to the mission and vision of Leading Educators
• Desire and ability to work in a flexible, rapidly-changing, entrepreneurial environment
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize among competing demands
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to anticipate and take initiative to work independently or collaboratively as needed
• Strong support orientation; willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed
• Fluency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and basic Web browsers and searches
