Master Carpenter
Department: Construction
Reports To: Director of Construction
Salary Range: $32,500 – 37,500

Job Description
Master Carpenter is responsible for managing 1-3 crews of carpenters working on St. Bernard Project’s client’s homes/jobsites. Project scopes include:

• Rough carpentry including reframing and framing
• Finish carpentry including installing cabinets, hanging exterior and interior doors, installing hardware for doors and closets
• Creates and maintains a safe, clean, and neat work environment
• Assures the safe and proper use of tools and equipment

Knowledge
• Ability and willingness to successfully manage multiple teams and projects of varying skill levels (apprentice and journeyman) and diverse backgrounds (AmeriCorps, veterans, long term volunteers).
• Extensive knowledge of the International Residential Code and Louisiana code.
• Understanding of what practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, quality control, cost control and safety are required to complete a project to the applicable building codes
• Understanding of how to build capacity of apprentice and journeyman level carpenters through proper training and management.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and architectural plans
• Able to successfully complete layout, framing, finishing of projects with limited or no supervision
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills that will result in accurate material and labor estimates and job cost reports

Requirements
Minimum of five (5) years in all phases of residential construction
Must have extensive supervisory experience
