Organization Description
The mission of Crescent City Schools is to support and develop open enrollment charter schools that raise student achievement and prepare students for college.

Crescent City Schools is a part of the movement that believes all students can and will learn, and that it is each school’s responsibility to provide an outstanding, high-quality education for every child. As a part of the ongoing effort to rebuild New Orleans public schools, Crescent City Schools has assumed operations of Harriet Tubman Charter School, a previously failing K-8 charter school in New Orleans. Our organization creates life-changing educational experiences for student and, through this work, transforms a city.

To support the school, Crescent City Schools operates a Charter Management Organization (CMO), dedicated to centralizing key non-instructional functions to help Principals and Teachers focus on instruction and student achievement.

Job Overview
Crescent City Schools seeks a school-based Director of Finance and Operations to join our team. This person will be an essential component to our organization and will manage the day-to-day operations of a school. From managing people to managing and troubleshooting situations as they arise- this role will require a commitment to the values of the organization.

The Director of Finance and Operations will report directly to the School Principal.

Responsibilities
The Director of Finance and Operations will do work in five primary areas:

Human Resources
• On-boarding of new staff; including payroll and benefits enrollment
• Manage attendance – develop and maintain sign in logs for all staff and service providers
• Collect and summarize payroll data for hourly and salaried employees, process payroll and reconcile benefits, working in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer
• Lead Performance Management process for all operations staff at the school level

Operations
• Oversee day-to-day operational activities of the school
o Implement and improve office procedures and policies
• Manage procurement process for all materials within the school
o Process supply requisitions, purchase orders, and check requests
o Coordinate procurement of school supplies
• Manage relationships with all school based vendors; maintain operational document record keeping
• Manage facilities maintenance issues; ensuring that all systems are fully functional – help manage building renovations and upgrades
• Coordinate and manage custodial staff; ensuring that building is clean at all times
• Coordinate and manage security and school safety personnel
• Coordinate and manage school technology; ensuring that all systems are up and fully functional
• Coordinate and manage daily student transportation service; student arrival and dismissal
• Coordinate and manage daily food service; ensuring that all free and reduced lunch forms are collected and processed for every student
• Schedule and conduct emergency Fire Drills

Compliance
• Work closely with the Data Specialist to oversee data collection, student schedules, student assessments, report cards and state reporting
• Responsible for state and federal reporting (Quarterly reports, annual AFR, and MOE reports)

Administration

• Support School Leader as a school-level point-of-contact with the Recovery School District
• Assist COO in preparing the campus annually for start-up/new school year launch
• Assist with planning and implementation of special school events and field lessons
• Participate in the school community as a full member of the staff, including but not limited to assisting the School Leader with student and staff recruitment, planning of school-wide events, and participating in all-staff retreats and team-building
• Manage the efforts of all office staff: Office Manager, Data Specialist, Custodial Staff, and School Nurse

Finance
• Manage the day-to-day finances to ensure overall financial health of the school; work directly with the School Leader and in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer
o Provide awareness to school leader on real-time financial health of school
• Manage school budgets and forecasts
• Work closely with the School Leader and Chief Operating Officer on the annual budget process
• Maintain financial document record keeping
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and accounting data entry for the school
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and journal entries as well as cash management
• Prepare financial reports for the Chief Operating Officer
• Serve as staff support and liaison for annual audits as performed by external auditors, State and IRS examiners
• Submit reimbursement claims for federal funding (NCLB, IDEA, PCSP, HPSI, Walton, etc)
• Work with School Leader and Chief Operating Officer to identify areas of need within the school

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• A minimum of three to five years of experience in operations, business, finance/accounting, and/or administration
• Strong belief in and alignment with Crescent City School’s core values and mission
• Results-driven business leader with experience in, and commitment to, operational and financial excellence and the use of data to drive operational and financial decisions
• Excellent organizational, planning and implementation skills
• Ability to lead, to manage multiple priorities and to manage the ambiguity inherent in an entrepreneurial environment
• Ability to manage and lead upward and downward
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multiple constituencies
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook required; high proficiency in financial management software preferred
