An internship at Audubon Aquarium of the Americas provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated and creative individual to learn about non-profit and museum executive management. This is an un-paid summer internship. Can be taken for college credit, depending on your school.
Intern will report to the Administrative Coordinator. Administrative Coordinator works with Senior Vice President/Managing Director and Director of Operations.
Intern will be located at the Aquarium, but will also have meetings and responsibilities at the new Audubon Insectarium.
Aquarium and Insectarium Administration is responsible for building Operations, Education and Volunteer programs, Animal Husbandry, Guest Services and IMAX Operations.
Intern will be included in meetings related to these departments at the Aquarium and the Insectarium. Meetings will address programs such as risk management, hurricane planning, exhibit development, program development, animal health and programs, community relations, human resources and the guest experience. The Intern will be included in department head meetings held every other week at the Insectarium and the Aquarium.
Description of primary duties listed below:
Development of Collateral Materials – daily staff updates, visitor information
Administrative Support – file and blueprint management, building key system management, equipment inventory
Development of Policy Materials – risk management, building policies and procedures, hurricane plan
Market Research – develop reports for data collected from zip code capture
