The Scott S. Cowen Institute for Public Education Initiatives, a dynamic and innovative think tank at Tulane University, seeks an energetic, engaged and highly accomplished individual to serve as Executive Director. The Executive Director will build upon the Cowen Institute’s research-based approach for impacting policy and practice in K-12 education by informing and advancing solutions both in New Orleans and nationally.

Bringing a strong education background, the ability to execute a vision for sustainable growth, and a collaborative leadership style, the Executive Director will step into the leadership role in an organization poised to assume a significant role in the change agenda for public education.
Ideal candidates should have a Master’s degree; a doctoral degree is preferred. The candidate should have seven to ten years of demonstrated success in comparable leadership roles and possess superb interpersonal skills. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate a broad and deep knowledge of public education as well as a network of strong local and/or national contacts relevant to the Cowen Institute’s work.
