Ochsner is currently seeking an Internal Communications Manager for the following: At the direction of the AVP of Marketing, the Internal Communications Manager serves as the internal communications gatekeeper for the organizations, serving as author, editor, coordinator and publisher of content for internal stakeholders. This individual employs professional standards of writing, message consistency, accuracy, completeness, timeliness, fairness, honesty, understanding and teamwork. He or she continually assesses current communications channels (Ochweb.org;, Executive Notes, OnTheFly on hold messaging, elevator and department bulletin boards, external direct mail to employees, newsletters, physician announcements and others) to ensure appropriateness for audiences and takes advantage of emerging channels to ensure key messages are delivered in the most effective and efficient manner possible. He or she is responsible for organizing and successfully executing town hall meetings for the CEO and President. This individual also advises and monitors general internal email distribution, communicates strategy behind the organization’s three-year plan to internal stakeholders and provides content for and advises on the successful implementation of new-employee and new-leader orientation all designed to ensure delivery and understanding of key messages. He or she develops effective partnerships with other related internal functions, such as public relations, human resources and others, and coordinates external partners such as communications consultants, photographers, designers and printers, assists supervisor with special projects, produces other communications and writing projects as needed, and ensures legal compliance on projects when necessary.
Requirements: College degree in journalism or communications. Minimum of 5 years of experience in business writing preferred. Experience with computer-based e-zines and other electronic publishing venues preferred. Health-care communications experience a plus.

Good writing, grammatical, interviewing and verbal communications skills. Good organizations, time-management, research and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, shifting priorities, intense deadlines, competing demands and extensive approval processes. High degree of accuracy and dependability. Good interpersonal and consultative skills to work effectively with all levels of employees, physicians, management, and business and support areas. Able to anticipate customer needs and provide effective customer service. Technology proficiencies: understanding of the Internet, intranets and computer-based databases; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); understanding of basic online publishing design; understanding of the use of digital photography devices; working knowledge of Photoshop; understanding of illustrator software preferred. Self motivated and self-directed, while able to work with direct supervision as needed. Detail-oriented. Respect for an ability to work with confidential information. Ability to manage a budget. Must be able to successfully complete established competencies for the position within designated probationary period. Proficient in Macintosh and related software.
