Abeona House is a non-profit childcare center specializing in the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, serving 60 children ages 6 weeks to 5 years in a year-round program. We are currently moving to a new site in Mid-City, and are seeking motivated, positive, creative, and nurturing teachers to join our team. Because we are in the process of moving and adding staff and new families, we are looking for Stars: Teachers who are exceptional at what they do, and passionate team players with a "Can Do" attitude. Available Positions: **Full-time Lead Teacher in the Twos Classroom- This teacher demonstrates a deep understanding and passion for two year-olds, with the ability to manage a positive, sensory rich, dynamic classroom with good-natured control. Lead teachers are responsible for keeping and maintaining daily reports that are sent to our families, and ongoing individualizing portfolios with documentation through comments, anecdotes, photographs, etc. Considerable comfort with writing, technology, and cameras required for this role. As the point person for parents in this room, this teacher ensures that children are happy, thriving, learning, and growing. Diaper changing, nose-wiping, potty-training, are a part of all of our roles. Leadership in envisioning the space and making it happen are keys to a positive classroom environment. Teachers will create lesson plans built on an emergent curriculum, and will have a daily planning period of 1 hour. One of these periods each week will be with the Executive Director who guides and leads the pedagogical growth of the staff. Salaried position of $22,770 per annum, with an annual pay increase based on performance. Health insurance also available.
**Full-time Assistant Teachers- These teachers work alongside our lead teacher, developing positive relationships with parents and children, enjoying floor-play and engaging with children, collaborating with the full-time lead teacher around observations of children's learning and growth, assisting with implementing lessons that include painting, reading, singing, dancing, exploring with a wide-variety of media, etc. Comfort with every age group, infant to five desired. Hourly position of $10/hour for a 7.25 hour day. Health insurance also available.
**Dynamic Afternoon Teachers- These teachers work daily from 1-5:30, relieving full-time lead teachers for their daily planning period, and then working with their classroom group of children. We are looking for staff people who have a specific gift to share here, in music, art, movement, theater, etc. Hourly position of $10/hour.

*Self-motivated to contribute and participate in the creative process and evolution of the classroom
*A proactive approach to classroom management and preparation
*A good sense of humor and joyful demeanor is good for everyone
*Respect for parents, and the ability to communicate in genuine partnership with them
*Deep love of children, and profound respect for the capacity of children
*Experience working in a childcare setting or supervising and interacting with multiple children of this
age group (applicants with elementary school experience only need not apply).
*Intelligent and professional, with excellent communication skills
*A professional view of other staff members; willingness to collaborate and partner with the
organization to continue our growth and learning
Applicants must be willing to subject to a thorough personal, professional & criminal background check,
have experience in a licensed child care facility
Required Training:
1. Ongoing professional development training, including a monthly Saturday meeting (reading articles, participating in staff development meetings, etc.)
2. Attend orientation session
3. Be supervised working with children for four days.
4. Complete 18 hours of professional development coursework, approved by the state, each year and complete Pediatric First Aid and CPR on a bi-annual basis.
