Summary of Duties :

The Volunteer Leader Program Coordinator recruits and trains community members to lead their own volunteer projects! This is an 11 month AmeriCorps position beginning September 1, 2009.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Recruit for, train and facilitate a semester long, residential service program.
• Direct supervision of 4-6 full time volunteer leaders.
• Develop long-term volunteer positions at local non-profits and recruit to fill those positions.
• Facilitate regular Volunteer Leader Trainings for the community.
• Coordinate social events for our local and full-time Volunteer Leaders.
• Build a sense of community around the program.
• Attend local community events to actively recruit leadership for projects.
• Help to connect Volunteer Leaders to resources at HandsOn

Qualifications:

• Extensive personal experience on volunteer projects
• Bachelor’s degree
• Comfort level and experience with communityoutreach, recruitment, training and public speaking. Strong communication skills a MUST
• Passion for volunteering and deep understanding of the value of volunteers and community service.
• Highly organized
• Comfort with common computer applications (Google Apps, Microsoft Office, etc)
• Reliable transportation and a clean driving record preferred.

Compensation:

This is an AmeriCorps Position. Members must complete a minimum of 1700 hours of service. Members will receive a living stipend of $1250/month; health coverage; Mileage reimbursement; Upon completion of term Member will receive an education award of $4,725.
