The Gulf States Renewable Energy Industries Association (GSREIA) represents Solar, Wind, Hydro, Biomass and other sectors of the sustainable energy economy through research, education, and direct action. GSREIA encourages adoption and legislation in favor of renewables throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama and is under application to the IRS for 501©6 industry trade group status. GSREIA leadership currently includes executives of three of the largest Solar firms in the region.
GSREIA has the potential to shift the energy dynamic of our region and transform clean renewable energy into the standard for personal and utility-scale power production. GSREIA works with utilities, legislators, regulators, municipalities, US government and other players to ensure that renewables receive equal opportunity against traditional fuels, and that each home and business owner has the right to develop and interconnect their own affordable clean energy source.
GSREIA is searching for Administrative Interns to support research and communication efforts for several high-profile projects, as well as marketing development and educational programs. Interns will be in the vortex of renewable energy in our region, and have potential to learn and network with hundreds of individuals, firms, and nonprofits involved in the effort. Initial compensation is not available for these positions, but may become available as funding sources expand.
Intern Responsibilities:
Topical research through internet resources, industry communication, and code review
Preparation of results through spreadsheets and presentations
Database building and verification
Attending and tracking events in regulatory and negotiation settings
Promotion and communication within industry
Creation of press releases, web content, and ad copy
Communication with stakeholders and government
Ideal Candidates have:
Sincere long-term interest in solar and renewable energy
Knowledge of energy, utility, and/or construction industries
Good communication skills and command of English language
Proficient in internet searching, digital media, and communications
Strong Office software ability: presentations, spreadsheets, word processing
Technical background: engineering, skilled trades, sciences (for policy research)
Marketing/Training background: Advertising, PR, Education (for promotional programs)
Reliable personal transportation
