PRIMARY PURPOSE/FUNCTION:
To assist the CV Surgeon in the provision of care in the Pre-op, intra-op, and post-op setting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Collect patient data, review medical findings, perform physical exam, and order necessary work up in preparation for surgery according to surgeon’s protocols.
•Order and interpret common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify related risks after consultation with surgeon.
•Work closely with surgeon to properly prepare the patient for surgery and devise perioperative order set.
•Provide patient and family education as appropriate.
•Rounding on patients post-operatively to observe and record pertinent progress and address changes needed in plan.
•Perform incisional care and suture removal
•Perform cardiovascular pre-op and other invasive procedures

The perfect candidate must be a graduate of a school of Physician Assistants and also have a valid license with the LA State Board of Medical Examiners.
