OVERVIEW
Peter Mayer, a full-service advertising agency, is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to work in Downtown New Orleans. Overall accountabilities are as follows:
1. Responsible for all functions of payroll, including processing semi-monthly payroll, maintaining payroll-related records, managing employee paid time off, administering a variety of voluntary deductions including communicating 401(K) retirement program plan contributions and tracking miscellaneous leaves of absence. Additional responsibilities include preparing payroll-related reports.
2. Prepare all payroll journal entries and maintain employee excel worksheets.
3. Responsible for employee receivable reconciliations.
4. Responsible for employee group benefits, specifically in calculating deductions for group health, life and disability insurance premiums and for communicating changes to benefit vendors, employees, and accounting staff. Preparing benefit related reports.
REGULAR DUTIES
•Maintain payroll records and process payroll.
•Prepare monthly payroll journal entries and issue corresponding insurance and deduction checks.
•Update employee excel worksheets and time database as necessary.
•Maintain record of employee receivables.
•Manage employee group benefits.
•Manage various voluntary payroll deductions, including time off and absences from work.
QUALIFICATIONS
•College degree in accounting preferred.
•Two to four years of related experience preferred.
•General accounting principles and practices; personnel-related regulations, policies and practices.
•Basic supervision, organizational, strong computer.
•Initiative, teamwork, communication abilities, productivity, professionalism, accuracy, thoroughness, attention to detail.
•Overtime; may handle special accounting projects as requested.
