GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The ACADEMIC STUDIO FACULTY CANDIDATE will be able to show a demonstrated commitment to developing highly personalized rigorous learning experiences for a diverse group of students in a team teaching environment with an integrated curriculum. Successful Applicants will have imagination, vision, and deep-rooted passion for spanning traditional boundaries among arts and academic disciplines. As mentors to individual students, teachers must model integrity, fairness, flexibility, and high ethical standards. As leaders and colleagues, teachers must be able to demonstrate positive interactions and relationships with parents, faculty, administration, and staff. An enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that is characterized by continuous growth is critical.
JOB DUTIES * Plans, organizes and teaches in primary subject area in collaboration with faculty peers in team teaching integrated curriculum environment * Leads individualized enrichment supports for students * Collaborates with students, parents, faculty, administration, and staff to facilitate students’ engagement and successful completion of the program as mileposts towards post-secondary options and success * Displays leadership through the efficient management of classroom activities, projects, and events * Engages in on and off-site student events outside of the traditional working day; * Engages in outreach and community events that support and enhance the mission of NOCCA and the Academic Studio * Participates in professional growth opportunities and incorporates that learning into academic curricula * Complies with NOCCA policies and procedures, meeting required deadlines and participating in required meetings * Attends and participates in additional NOCCA campus events, including but not limited to: faculty orientation and all-staff meetings, Open Studio days, audition workshops, administrative support to student auditions, Celebration season performances, Presidential Honors, Celebration ceremony, and other departmental and campus initiatives as requested / required * Demonstrates excitement for non-traditional methods of teaching and assessment * Utilizes project based assignments to deliver content * Demonstrates ability to find opportunities which allow differently abled learners to find their greatest potential * Experiences working with differently abled learners
QUALIFICATIONS |Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: – Advanced degree and applied teaching experience in content area – Experience and/or professional commitment to creating a high-quality learning atmosphere for diverse individuals at all levels of student understanding – Ability to demonstrate the highest level of verbal and written communication skills – Ability to work flexible hours as necessary to accommodate program needs
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
A Bachelor’s or advanced degree (either teaching or content-based) in the primary subject area is a minimum requirement. Preference will be given to those with graduate degrees or equivalent career concentration in a related business / industry field.
Louisiana state teacher certification in primary teaching area OR the ability and commitment to obtain certification within three years;
A demonstrated interest in the arts; experience with IEPs, special education, and/or gifted and talented; and experience with self directed curriculum development and evolution is also beneficial.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Teachers should have five (5) years of successful work experience in the discipline, or a comparable setting.
