Position Description: Communities In Schools of Greater New Orleans is currently hiring an AmeriCorps member for the 2011-2012 school year. The AmeriCorps member will contribute to the CIS mission by functioning as a full-time tutor and mentor within the 6th-8th grades of a New Orleans public school. The AmeriCorps member will work closely with the Site Coordinator to provide students with the necessary services to help them succeed inside and outside of school. Member Qualifications: 1. A minimum of a Bachelors Degree 2. Must have reliable transportation 3. U.S. citizen, or U.S. national or lawful permanent resident of the United States 4. Commitment to community service and ability to provide service for the complete program year Program Dates: February 2012 — December 2012. Corps member must serve a total of 1700 hours during the program year. Program Benefits: $13,000 total living stipend; $5,550 education award that can be used for qualified educational expenses for up to 7 years; health and child care benefits; personal and professional development.
