AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corps seeks full-time Corps members who will work for a year at anti-poverty organizations in Chicago, New Orleans, New York, and Washington, D.C. Positions range from a Youth Leader, to a Legal Advocate, to an Office and Volunteer Programming Coordinator. Through AVODAH, Corps members are matched with placement organizations and may work on issues such as immigration, domestic violence, hunger, homelessness and housing, legal assistance, environmental justice, youth work, education, public health, and others.

AVODAH combines front-line, anti-poverty work, Jewish learning, and community building into a one-year program for people ages 21-26 in Chicago, New Orleans, New York, and Washington, DC. Corps members live together, learn together, and form a community committed to integrating Jewish life and social justice. To learn more about the program go to http://www.avodah.net/apply

Applicants are matched with positions after being accepted into AVODAH. AVODAH cannot guarantee applicants a particular placement, but we work hard to match Corps members with one of their top choices.

Corps members earn health insurance and a modest living stipend that covers housing, food, transportation, and other expenses. Upon completion of the program, participants receive a $1,000 exit stipend and qualify for an Americorps Education Award of over $5,000 for repayment of student loans or continued education. Student loan deferrals are available.
