Job Announcement: Executive Director
The New Orleans Metro Bicycle Coalition (MBC), a young and growing organization with seed capital is seeking its first Executive Director to expand our organization's reach. The Executive Director will work with an active Board of Directors to improve commuting and recreational cycling conditions in and around New Orleans, LA.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
Policy Advocacy
> Educate decision-makers about bicycle policy best-practices
> Inform the public about the benefits of cycling
> Keep MBC on the forefront of bicycling issues
> Serve as the spokesperson for MBC
Fundraising
> Establish quarterly fundraising goals
> Implement activities to meet these goals
> Meet and solicit funds from potential major donors
> Identify and pursue grant opportunities
Community Organizing
> Reach out to non-profit organizations to build positive relationships
> Outreach to under-served communities
> Engage communities with high bicycle potential
Membership and Volunteer Development
> Expand membership through regularly recruitment
> Achieve high member retention rates
> Manage special appeals to current members
> Recruit and organize volunteers to represent MBC at community events
> Maintain membership database
Events
> Organize the Spring "Bicycle Second Line"
> Organize the Fall "Bike Bash"
> Develop other programming to increase awareness and promote bicycling
Administration
> Prepare and send biweekly newsletter
> Maintain website and social media outlets
> Review and respond to email inquiries
> Prepare and maintain all financial records
> Prepare agenda and attend all general, board, and committee meetings
> Manage all other administrative duties
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
> Subject matter knowledge in cycling and policy
> Proven fundraising record
> Community organizing and local advocacy experience
> Regular bicycle user
> Commitment to making New Orleans the most bicycle friendly city in North America
> Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
COMPENSATION:
Starting salary negotiable and commensurate with experience
Continuing compensation will be performance based and related to fundraising ability
