Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Donor Relations and Grant Manager is the focal point for development activities, and works directly to support the development, implementation, and coordination of a comprehensive resource development strategy, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects related to individual and corporate giving, grants, annual campaigns, foundations, in-kind donations, special events, sponsorships and planned giving. The Donor Relations and Grant Manager will partner with members to provide expertise and guidance in fund development principles and best practices that maximize fundraising opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Serve as primary staff support for fundraisers & campaigns
● Assist volunteers in their fundraising efforts by maintaining an event specific calendar of fundraising activities and training committees
● Maintains list of external vendors, donors, & sponsors and will coordinate requests or solicitation of them.
● Assist fundraisers with seeking sponsorships, determining deliverables/ donor levels, and producing sponsorship benefit packages
● Serve as a clearinghouse for all solicitations
● Build the campaign or fundraiser on Digital Cheetah platform
● Maintain system for timely acknowledgement of cash and in-kind gifts.
Corporate Relations (Vendor, Donor, One Ask Management):
● Prepare Annual Report
● Consultation with Risk Management as needed
● Prepare invoices & tax receipts as needed.
● First point of contact for NDBN. NDBN annual survey responses.
● Participate in Committee, Council and Board Meetings as needed.
● Work with Planning and Development Council Director to determine committee structure, budget, and activities for the Advancement Support Team (ie Donor Relations, Annual Giving). Set income goals for the year to assist in building P&D budget. In corporate all of this into a fund development spreadsheet for all events, solicitations, and grant proposal due dates.
● Create the fundamental systems required to run a best practices fundraising program.
● Maintain donor and foundation records on Digital Cheetah to ensure the accuracy and efficacy of the donor database.
● Serve as a clearinghouse of information related to donation requests.
● Design and implement strategies for expanding the contact list.
Foundation Relations & Grant Seeking & Reporting:
● Develop and implement strategic fundraising strategy to secure corporate and foundation grants.
● Identify, qualify, and prioritize funders for specific community initiatives
● Facilitate the development of relationships with funders through personal meetings, regular communication, or arranging for meetings with Board members.
● Locate, track and meet grant submission or reporting deadlines.
● Draft and oversee the development of funding proposals to help ensure proper submission. This includes gathering appropriate information for grant requests and reporting.
Major Gifts/ Individual Donor Development (Stewardship & One Asks):
● Carry out donor acknowledgement and stewardship functions, including maintenance of donor database to include donor giving history, contact information, and preparation of reports on solicitation progress and results.
● Prepare quarterly Donation reports for Lagniappe and quarterly Donor e-newsletter.
● Direct “Thank you Campaign” outreach to potential donors
● Prepare production of special letters and Donor Acknowledgement packets.
● Input updates to Donation page of website as needed.
● Leverage existing relationships to secure major gifts from individuals.
● Work with the Board & members to identify, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects and donors.
● Implement a moves management system to support major gifts.
● Prepare MOUs as needed
Planned & Annual Giving:
● Work closely with Annual Giving Team to make a plan for the year and ensure its execution. Track and manage Annual Giving and Planned Giving initiatives in coordination with P&D.
o Oversee and enact all Give NOLA Day activities, maintain website
o Prepare all PG & AG inserts in dues letter.
o Coordinate any calling or texting campaigns
o Work with P&D Council Director to obtain President’s approval for scripts, dates, credits, & marcom.
